1990년 이후 구보 텍스트 재매개의 계보학

The Genealogy on Remediation of Gubo－text since 1990

이 글은 월북작가에 대한 해금 조치 이후 저널리즘을 통해 한국문화의 새로운 예술가적 주체로 호명된 ‘구보’라는 재매개 현상에 관한 계보학적 탐색을 목적으로 씌었다. 1990년을 전후로 탄생한 이 저널리즘과 결합한 ‘구보 텍스트’들은 해금 이후 한국문학 연구의 주제로 급부상한 박태원만큼이나 중요한 변화였으며, 소설 내에서 재생산되던 것보다 훨씬 광범위하고 역동적인 관계를 형성했다. 게다가 소설이 최인호와 주인석의 작품 두 편에 그쳐 역사 화된 것과 달리 여전히 현재진행형이며, 그래서 박태원에 관한 연구의 시간 과거의 동시적이다. 이 글에서 다룬 두 편의 텍스트는 각각 소설가 주인석의 ｢소설가 구보씨의 영화구경｣(1997)과 ｢소설가 구보씨의 사람구경｣(1997), 그리고 철학자 문성원의 철학자 구보 씨의 세상 생각 (2005)이다. 주인석을 통해 호명된 1990년대 의 소설가 구보와 그의 구경은 시공간의 감각 등 전혀 새로운 세계와 맞닥뜨린 상황에서 이전의 내면화된 억압으로부터 벗어나고자한 한 세대의 정치적 무의식이었다. 그렇다면 문성원에 의해 호명된 철학자 구보와 그의 생각은 한층 더 동물화된 세계에서 진정성과 대면한 시대로 돌아갈 수도 없고, 선뜻 진정성의 주체로 나설 수도 없는 소시민적 웅얼거림 같은 것으로서, 글쓰기의 진정성마저 부재하는 한갓 ‘생각’으로 후퇴하고 말았다. 1990년 이후 구보 텍스트는 저널리즘과 소설가, 그리고 강연/출판과 철학 자의 만남 등으로 재매개되었다. 이 구보 텍스트들이 ‘구경’에서 ‘생각’으로 이어지는 이 과정은 어쩌면 한국사회의 1990년대와 2000년대를 압축적으로 표상하는 장치로 볼 수 있다. 두 텍스트의 관계는 해금 자체도 그렇거니와 변화와 희망의 잠정적 공존 상태로서 1990년대와 퇴행과 불안의 항상적 공존 상태로서 2000년대 한국사회를 거울처럼 반영하고 있다.

This study is genealogical approach to remediation of Gubo that called as a new aesthetic subject through Journalism since the lifting of writers who have gone to North Korea. The Gubo－text around the year 1990 is crucial change as much as sudden rising of Park, Taewon in the Korean research field at that time. Moreover this is more extensive and dynamic than the reproduction of Gubo the novel into novels. This study explores two text, one is Joo, Inseok’s Watching Movies of Gubo the Writer(1997) and Watching People of Gubo the Writer(1997), the other is Thinking about World of Gubo the Philosopher(2005) by Moon, Sungwon. Joo’s ‘Gubo’ and ‘Watching’ means politic unconsciousness of generation who encountered disparate reality and were eager for escaping from internalized suppression. Moon’s union of ‘Gubo’ and ‘Thinking’ is like a petit bourgeois’ murmuring that the one who encountered the animalized world without authenticity expressed his despair. So his thinking without the sincerity of writing seems to reflect the reality being absence of authenticity. The route from ‘Watching’ to ‘Thinking’ as a writing in the Gubo－text above represented the reality of 1990s’ provisional coexistence of alternative and wish to 2000s’ always coexistence of retrogression and anxiety in Korean Society.
