정몽주의 작품 수용을 통해 본 대학 한문 교재 한시 선정의 문제와 개선

The Problems and Solutions of Sino-Korean Poem Selection for College Chinese Character Texts in Including Jeong Mong-ju’s Literary Works

정몽주는 다양한 삶의 궤적과 시 창작을 이루어낸 인물이다. 정몽주만큼이나 다양한 삶의 궤적을 가진 많은 사람들의 경우 모두 같겠지만, 그들의 작품을 어떠한 기준으로 교재에 수용할 것인가가 고민스럽다. 그럼에도 불구하고 사실은 작품의 다양성, 주제, 소재, 품격 등 작품의 성격을 제대로 고려하지 않았고, 심지어는 작품의 제목에 대해서도 제대로된 기준을 적용하지도 못하는 경우도 있다. 필자는 이를 해결하는 방향으로 대학 교재의 작품 수용에 대한 제언을 하고자 한다. 정몽주의 작품을 교재에 수용하는 기준으로 다음과 같이 제안한다. 무엇보다 그의 삶의 궤적을 가장 잘 담고 있는 작품의 다양한 선정이다. 그러나 그의 삶의 궤적을 모두 고려한다면 작품의 선정과 수용은 사실상 불가능해지고 만다. 이에 필자는 이를 고려할 것을 전제로 정몽주 문학 작품의 바탕을 이루고 있는 그의 정신을 작품 선정 기준에 둘 것을 제안한다. 그것은 바로 그의 의리정신과 실천이다. 필자는 그의 정신적 바탕에 있는 이러한 정신이야말로 정몽주의 특징이며, 작품을 이루고 있는 근본정신이었다고 생각한다. 또한 시를 선정할 때는 이러한 그의 정신적 바탕에 그의 작품을 대표하는 품격인 호방(豪放)이 고려되어야 한다.

Jeong Mong-ju is a personage who trod diverse paths of life and created a variety of poems. As we face the same problem in case of other figures who left diverse traces of life, the task of selecting from the poetic works of Jeong Mong-ju for college texts makes us deeply contemplate how to do that. All the same, we haven’t considered properly the characteristics of his works such as their diversity, dignity, themes and subject matters and haven’t even applied appropriate criteria to the titles of his works. For the purpose of solving above-mentioned problems, I want to advise on what works we should put in college texts. I suggest the following as the criteria to select from the poetic works of Jeong Mong-ju and include them in college texts. First of all, the diverse works containing his traces of life should be chosen. But if we consider all his life paths, it is actually impossible to do the task of selecting from his works and including them in texts on the basis of his life. Therefore, I propose that besides considering his life, his mentality under his literary works be the criteria to choose his works for texts. The core of it is loyalty and its practice. I think that his loyalty and practice of it forming the foundation of his mentality is Jeong Mong-ju’s characteristic spirit. In selecting from his poems, valor and broad-mindedness as the representative dignity of his mental foundation must be taken into consideration.
