초등학생의 인지적, 정서적 관용과 관용적 행동의 관계

Relationship between Cognitive, Emotional Tolerance and Tolerant Behavior in Elementary School Students

본 연구의 목적은 초등학생의 관용적 행동이 관용의 인지적, 정서적 요인과 어떠한 관계가 있는지 살펴보는 데에 있다. 선행 연구들을 바탕으로 관용의 인지적 요인인 관용에 대한 지식, 관용과 관련된 판단력, 관용의 정서적 요인인 공감적 각성, 공감적 관심을 변수로 상정하고 이러한 변수들이 관용적 행동과 어떠한 관계가 있는지 분석하였다. 이를 위하여 서울특별시, 인천광역시, 경기도 소재의 초등학생을 대상으로 총 510명에게 자기보고식 검사를 실시하여 최종 499부의 자료를 가지고 빈도 분석, t 검정, 상관분석, 중다회귀분석을 수행하였다. 그 결과 첫째, 관용의 인지적 요인인 관용에 대한 지식 수준의 차이에 따른 관용적 행동에 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 관용의 인지적 요인인 관용과 관련된 판단력 수준을 인습 이전 수준과 인습 수준 집단으로 나누었을 때, 인습 수준 집단이 관용적 행동을 유의하게 더 많이 하는 것으로 드러났다. 셋째, 관용의 정서적 요인인 공감적 각성과 공감적 관심은 관용적 행동과 상관이 있으며, 관용적 행동에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 아울러 본 연구의 결과의 시사점과 함께 바람직한 실제 관용교육의 방안에 대하여 논의하였다.

This study was conducted to investigate how cognitive and emotional aspects of tolerance are related to tolerant behavior. Based on previous research, tolerance was classified with three sub-areas such as cognitive factors, emotional factors, and tolerant behaviors. To deal with the study, a self-report survey was answered by 510 elementary school students in Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon. The final data of 499 students were analyzed by frequency analysis, t-test, correlation and multiple regression analysis. The results were as follows: First, there was no significant difference in tolerant behavior according to the knowledge of tolerance. Second, when the level of moral judgement was divided by pre-conventional level group and conventional level group, the moral behavior of conventional level was higher than that of pre-conventional level. Finally, the empathic arousal and empathic concern were significantly correlated and predicted moral behavior. This study would give implications to develop educational programs to foster tolerance for elementary school students.
