This study attemptedto investigate married immigrant women's skin care habits, attitudes and knowledge and their interest in appearance and determine how these areas are related to each other with a goal of providing the basic data that are needed in developing effective skin care programs and products for these consumers. Skin care attitudes were relatively high in the age 40 or older, housewives, middle school graduates, those from Cambodia and those having less than three (3) years of stay to date (p<.05). Interest was also high in 'regular skin care,' 'relatively frequent skin care,' 'almost no makeup,' 'received professional skin care before' and 'normal skin type' (p<0.05). Knowledge of skin care was relatively high for the age 40 or older group (p<.001). It was also high among 'skin care at least once a month' and 'KRW 20,000 or more spent for makeup monthly' (p<.05).' Interest in appearance was relatively high in young women, those with one (1) child, those from the Philippines or Cambodia and those having 3-5 years of stay in Korea (p<.01). It was also high in 'skin care once or twice per week,' 'washing 3 times a day,' 'have not received any professional skin care before' and '6-7 cosmetics in use.' In terms of average monthly expenditure for cosmetics and perceived skin type, interest in appearance was high in the 'KRW 10,000 or less,' 'normal skin type,' 'oily skin' and 'mixed skin type' (p<.05).
