The PBL is a process of solving problems through reflection after discovering grounds for a certain actual problem through small-group collaboration. This teaching method is an essential learning tool for the Department of Cosmetology. This study aimed to help students build problem-solving ability and critical thinking and be able to select, process and make use of desired information on their own. The PBL method allows students to take in stride any difference between school education and clinical practice through the use of their personal knowledge, skills, attitude and the PBL abilities they learned in school. This study could be the basis for PBL to be introduced into a Department of Cosmetology as a new teaching-learning method. Furthermore, this new method would be helpful for cosmetologists in improving the future quality of education. A teaching and learning method has been proposed in order to introduce the PBL (learning cooperation that enhances learners' problem-solving ability so as to prepare for any situation in which a cosmetology department (Ph.D. program) may be the unrealistic or inadequate). In addition, the study proposed a teaching and learning method to introduce the PBL. Lastly, this study made a contribution to fostering professional beauty artists that possess excellent knowledge, skills, attitudes and problem-solving ability after the PBL was introduced as a new teaching-method method.
