This study shows that taurine, when taken prior to a primary full-body meridian massage in a secondary massage aimed at middle-aged fatigued women, significantly reduces tiredness. The control group (n=8) was given only the massage (120 minutes); the experiment group took taurine (4 g) 30 min prior to the same massage (120 minutes). Lactic acid concentration in blood in the control group decreased by 19%, while in the experimental grou pit decreased by 7%. Uric acid concentration decreased by 1.6% in the first group and by 6.2% (p=0.001) in the second group. An antioxidant substance, SOD, increased by 3% in the control group, while in the experimental group it increased by 4%. With regard to d-ROMs, they decreased by 1.7% in the control group and by 2.2% in the experimental group. BAP decreased by 0.7% in the control group and by 5.6% (p=0.014) in the experimental group. Cortisol level increased by 4.3% in the control group and decreased by 25.9% in the experimental group. Serotonin increased by 2.0% in the control group and by 29% (p=0.032) in the experimental group. These results suggest that taurine has a statistically significant effect on the subjective assessment of fatigue, uric acid, and BAP. Furthermore, our results also show that intake of taurine is effective to d-ROMs and cortisol. In sum, our study shows that an intake of taurine has a positive effect on fatigue, antioxidant, and hormone in a full-body meridian massage.
