This study aims to provide useful information for Korean wig industry to set a future direction by investigating wig usage and perception as a means of making up for hair loss against men in their 30-60s suffering from hair loss in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi-do. In terms of people's view on wig, statistically significant difference wasn't found in education, marital status and residence type (p>.05). Specifically, an amicable view was detected in those aged 60 or older, services and KRW 7 million or more in terms of age, occupation and monthly income respectively. When asked which part they felt uncomfortable in the wig, 'the connecting part between the hair and wig' was mostly responded in college graduates, married, sales and KRW 4 thru less than 7 million in terms of education, marital status, occupation and monthly income respectively. When asked what should be improved first in the wig, 'convenience to wear' was most responded (53 respondents, 44.2%). Recently, wigs have become more diverse in terms of type and function. Because the purchase of wig is closely related with household economy, however, it is needed to set rational and acceptable price ranges. It is also important to develop a convenient and functional wig. If more options are offered to customers through the development of new wig design which can meet their diverse needs and demand, Korean wig market would further grow and flourish and generate synergy effects.
