A Study of Art Makeup through the Repetition of Yayoi Kusama's Creation and Destruction

Recently, art makeup has evolved into a unique art genre in connection with many other art forms. Focusing on the fact that the technique expressed in modern arts is closely related with art makeup techniques, this study attempted to create art makeup based on the art world of artist Yayoi Kusama. The characteristics of expressive techniques used in her artwork were analyzed, and art makeup designs were created based on creation and destruction. The results of art makeup works that have been created based on her art piece scan be classified into three types: creation, destruction and repetition. First, in 'creation,' the diversification of forms by harmony between repetitive art makeup and art pieces was found through the creation of art makeup formed with repetitive motives and objects. Second, in 'destruction,' the possibility for the expansion of design genres and the development of creative design were opened by recreating forms caused by the repetitive deformation of motifs expressed in Yayoi Kusama's works with art makeup designs. Third, in 'repetition,' the possibility of creation that can reanalyze the repetition of creation and destruction, which is Yayoi Kusama's unique artistic characteristic, was suggested. This study intended to expand art makeup design and improve its formative art values by attempting creative expression methods in a diverse manner. In addition, it targeted creative and future-oriented development in art makeup by drawing continuous interest and encouraging related research activities.
