Six-Dinasties zhiguai changed their narrative style after Buddhism in India had been introduced to china literati society through the Silk-Road. The early zhiguai texts include more than the view of Taoism or traditional thought of the world of the dead. And most zhiguai editors look on their works as a branch of the history tradition. In their point of view, the early pre-buddhistic zhiguai texts are not so much something like fiction or novel as practical history record. I noted the change of story frame in the period from pre-buddhistic zhiguai to buddhistic zhiguai. To examine this change, I compared the early texts like 搜神記ㆍ博物志ㆍ神異經 with the buddhistic texts like 冥祥記ㆍ幽明錄ㆍ冥報記. Through this comparison of the narrative style, I found some remarkable change. First, In most buddhistic zhiguai texts, cause and effect of story is better equipped than that of the early pre-buddhistic texts. And I think this change is owed to a conception of retribution in Buddhism. Second, focus is moved from nature world to human. in the early texts, editors emphasize that their works are a knowledge and imformation toward to unknown world. Buddhism in china shift the direction of chinese concern to karma life of human. Third, the length of story is lengthened and a role of byplayers is becoming notable. After all, I think the former change of narrative style between early zhiguai texts and buddhistic zhiguai texts shows the possibility of the change from history field to fiction field in the situation of Six-Dynasties zhiguai.
