China has a long history of narrative, and there are many types of narrative in the history of Chinese novel. Yet, the crucial point of the description of Chinese novel is to select the narratives that can be involved in the category of the novel and create the universal theory by pointing out the relationship between them. Nevertheless, the category of the Chinese novel is still ambiguous. We should approach a somewhat different way to search the transformation of Chinese novel. The way is the problem that is involved with the subjects made the narratives in each time and the attentions of the social reality. Moreover, the language used in writing narratives by the many people had a diverse spectrum from the classic language to the colloquial. The classification of the novels written by classical language and the vernacular story was derived from that point. Also, the analyzation of the relation between them has a serious meaning in the history of Chinese novel. Furthermore, the transformation of the Chinese novel needs to be investigated by analyzing the works. What the analyzation means is to observe the patterns that appeared in each times. The most distinguished pattern is the intimacy between narrative and history. This thesis will observe how the relation between narrative and history had an influence on the transformation of the Chinese narrative.
