A study on the characteristic Nam-Jung-Pal-Nan-Gi written in Chinese

This paper aims to study characteristics of Chinese character version of 〈Nam-Jung-Pal-Nan-Gi〉. For that purpose, this version was considered through comparison with Korean Chinese character full-length novels such as 〈Gu-Un-Mong〉, 〈Ok-Su-Gi〉, 〈Ok-Ru-Mong〉, 〈Il-Rak-Jeong-Gi〉. I examined the pieces of work centering around a system, an idiomatic phrase and linguistic representation. First, Chinese character version 〈Nam-Jung-Pal-Nan-Gi〉, while having a system of a full-length novel, is closer to the system of a Chinese Jang-Hoea (many installments) novel. Because, it is not complete but equipped with components of the system a Chinese Jang-Hoea novel has. Second, as a characteristic indicated in a form, I could identify respective idiomatic phrases used for the reservation and termination of event progress. It was a characteristic of only 〈Nam-Jung-Pal-Nan-Gi〉 which is seldom showed in a Korean full-length novel. In conclusion, as a result of an examination of the characteristic indicated in representation from the linguistic perspective, it was found that cruel or excessive expression is recklessly showed and that words and phrases which could be seen in written colloquial Chinese were used. Through above discussion, it was found that 〈Nam-Jung-Pal-Nan-Gi〉 has an aspect similar to Chinese novels.
