Research on the Publish of Literary Sketches in the Saoye Publishing House

The SaoYe Publishing House was set up in the year of 1786 and its first boss decided to publish books for scholars at that time. As one of famous publishing house in China publishing history, the SaoYe Publishing House have published a lot of scholastic literary sketches for intellectual circles. In the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China, the SaoYe Publishing House have published scholastic literary sketches and popular literary sketches at the same time. In comparison with scholastic ones, the popular ones obviously had not high quality. Although the popular literary sketches could bring economic benefits to it, the boss of SaoYe Press decisively off such practice because of defending the honor and the traditions of the publishing house. At last “the pattern of the SaoYe Publishing House” about the publish of literary sketches come into being in the early Republic of China.
