Ming-Qing Popular Novels were developed in the process of communication. Furthermore, a large amount of sequels and adaptations of novels were written out. And other kinds of culture and art were influenced greatly. The main expressions of influence include that many Chinese traditional operas share the same subject matters with novels and various chantefable forms are also influenced by traditional fictions such as tanci (plucking rhymes), guci (drum lyrics), baojuan (stories of Buddhist sutra) etc. Besides that, novels benefit the arts of calendar drawing, porcelain and music and so on. So the value of Ming-Qing Popular Novels is raised through being spread widely whatever in number or in quality. Please note: The word "chantefable" is seen for reference in the book of Reading Illustrated Fiction in Late Imperial China chapter two, page 26. The book is written by R. E. Hegel of Washington University, St. Louis, Stanford University press, 1998.
