In Korea, many students have difficulty learning English despite of having received English instructions with beginning in the third grade of elementary and continuing through high school. Demotivation that researchers found is a crucial factor in lowering the students’ English learning ability, which also causes language learning failure in many classes. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate what demotivating factors are in university students, and check what factors help them remotivate in learning English. For the purpose, a total of 262 students participated in this survey, and their responses were analyzed. The results were ranked as learners’ problems, learning environment, and teacher problems. The main demotivator was characterized as the difficulty of studying English. It shows that Korean college learners can become demotivated because of learning difficulties they encounter such as focusing on too much English grammar and memorizing vocabulary. Also, several possible remotivation factors are examined by students’ questionnaires. These findings can help students motivate again in learning English.
