The purpose of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of learning Arabic vocabulary by using images and multimedia for elementary level students and to figure out whether using multimedia would increase their level of interest, participation and self-confidence. In this study, we propose Arabic vocabulary learning method using images and multimedia, where learners can associate provided images with Arabic vocabulary. Based on the six topics, the experimental group are taught with multimedia materials(Power Point) and the comparative group are taught with printed materials and a textbook. While conducing this experimental research there were pre, mid-, post tests, and three formative evaluations as well as pre- and post surveys. The results were the followings. Firstly, the affective attitude of learning Arabic language between the experimental group and comparative group was analyzed through the results of the pre and post surveys. The analyzed results showed that the members of the experimental group through the multimedia increased their level of interest, participation and self-confidence. On the other hand, the members of the comparative group without using multimedia led to a result that their level of interest, participation and self-confidence decreased or was similar to that of the first pre-survey. Secondly, it was seen that the Arabic language lesson with multimedia(Power Point) was positive and meaningful to improve the level of Arabic vocabulary to the elementary level after analyzing the results of the tests. And it was proved that the Arabic language lesson with multimedia is more effective on the improvement of Arabic vocabulary than the lesson with the printed materials and the textbook.
