A Study on the Function of Pi(脾) in Huangdineijing

Objectives : This paper examines how the Pi(脾) function was understood in the time of the Huangdineijing . Methods : The contents were analyzed and categorized through examining the verses within the Huangdineijing , followed by comparison with a recent publication on the topic. Results &Conclusions : According to the Huangdineijing , there are two major functions of the Spleen. One is producing and distributing Jing Qi from food, the other is managing the Qi cycle of the body. The former function could again be sub-categorized into the part focusing on production and that focusing on distribution. In the Huangdineijing Yanjiu Dacheng (黃帝內經硏究大成, Great Findings from the Study of Hungdineijing ) the contents were mostly similar, with the exception of some parts.
