대학 사회봉사센터의 운영에 관한 사례 연구

A Case Study on an Operation for University’s Social Service Centers

본 연구의 목적은 대학의 사회봉사센터 기능을 정립시킴으로써 체계적이고 효과적인 사회봉사 활동을 진행할 수 있는 토대를 마련하기 위함이다. 이를 위해 사례연구방법을 활용하였고, 현재 활발하게 사회봉사활동을 실천하고 있는 강원 소재 A대학을 사례 대상으로 선정하였다. 연구결과 A대학은 사회봉사를 활성화하기 위하여 사회봉사 전담조직, 인력, 예산을 확보하였고, 학생들의 전공역량 및 잠재력을 강화시키는 전략을 사용하였으며, 학점․장학금 등 인센티브 제공, 재미있는 봉사활동 기획 등으로 봉사학생들의 참여를 유도하였다. 또한 A대학 사회봉사센터는 지역의 유명관광지 혹은 지역축제를 활용한 봉사활동을 기획․실천하고 있으며, 지역사회 복지기관과의 연계를 통하여 봉사학생들이 봉사를 할 수 있는 수요처를 개 발하는데 많은 노력을 기울이고 있었다. 이와 같은 연구결과를 바탕으로 본 연구는 각 대학에서 사회봉사를 활성화하기 위하여 사회봉사 전담조직 및 인력 확보, 학생 및 지역사회의 특성을 고려한 맞춤형 봉사 프로그램 개발, 지역사회 복지기관과의 체계적인 연계활동 등을 제언하였다.

This study aims to set up functions of a university’s social service center, laying a foundation for well-arranged and effective social volunteer activities. For this study, the method of case study is applied, with a university ‘A’ located in Gangwon-Do, which is currently practicing active social works, being selected as a target. The result of the study shows that the university has secured a responsible organization, staff and budget in order to promote social volunteer works, and used a strategy of enhancing students' capabilities in their major fields and their potential. In addition, the university attracted students' participation by offering incentives such as benefits of grades or scholarship or planning interesting activities. The university's social service center has planned and is actually practicing social works using materials including famous tourist attractions or local festivals. ‘A’ University is making a lot of efforts to explore source of demand where students can contribute to, being linked to local social welfare centers. Based on the study result, it is suggested that individual universities secure a responsible organization with staff, develope volunteer service programs tailored to the characteristics of students and a local community, and be linked to local community welfare centers.
