This paper introduces analytic model to decide the economic preventive maintenance scheduling for a batch production system. A scheduling is defined to be optimal if it minimizes the expected cost rate comprised of failure cost, maintenance cost and quality cost which is assessed from the quality of the processed products using the concept of the loss function. The model is developed assuming that a system can have not only failure but also degradation during a batch production and the degradation come with quality-down of the processed products. In addition, the maintenance is assumed to restore the system condition before degradation. Some numerical examples and sensitivity analyses for model parameters are provided to show the implementation of the developed model.
