개념지도에 근거한 마을학교 정체성 연구

본 연구는 지역에서 빠르게 확산되고 있는 마을학교의 정체성을 탐색하려는 시도로서 마을학교로 거론되는 6개 마을학교 사례를 택하여 개념지도화(conceptual mapping)하였다. 연구문제는 첫째, 마을학교의 개념적 구성요소는 무엇인가. 둘째, 마을학교를 움직이는 핵심 요소는무엇인가. 셋째, 마을학교의 개념지도는 어떠한가이다. 연구 결과 첫째, 마을학교의 개념을 주체, 공간, 목적, 활동의 네 가지 측면에서 정리할 수있었다. 주체 측면에서, 마을학교는 주민의 주체형성을 돕는 마을 교육 시스템이며 주민은 교육의 주체이자 시스템을 만들어 가는 주체이다. 공간 면에서 마을학교는 공간(space) 개념을 넘어 주민 ‘생활의 장(field)’이며 사회적 관계망을 넓히는 플랫폼이다. 목적 면에서 마을학교 는 평생학습을 매개로 마을공동체 형성을 지향한다. 활동 측면에서 마을학교는 주민 간 상호작용을 통해 학습하게 하고 마을에 필요한 다양한 활동을 창조한다.둘째, 마을학교를 움직이는 핵심 요소는 주민의 학습하기, 관계 맺기, 참여하기로 도출됐다.이 요소들은 개별적으로 작용하는 것이 아니라 상호작용하며 선순환을 이룬다. 셋째, 마을학교는 개인측면에서 1차적으로 학습을 통해 자아발견과 삶의 질을 향상하는 기회를 주며, 이를 넘어 2차적으로 주민 간 관계 맺기를 함으로써 자신의 삶의 무대를 확장하게 한다. 마을활동에 참여함으로써 개인적인 삶에서 사회적 영역의 마을살이를 경험한다. 마을측면에서는 교육프로그램 운영부터 마을사업까지 활동을 확장시키는 마을학교 경험이 마을 의제 발견과 해결이라는 마을력(마을역량)을 향상케 한다. 끝으로 이러한 마을학교 개념 분석을 통해 마을학교가 마을공동체 형성의 구심점이자 핵심 동력이 될 수 있음을 확인할 수 있었다.

This study is an attempt to understand the identity of the village schools rapidly spreading in local areas on the basis of the concept map of the village schools. Six village schools, regarded as the prototypes of village schools, are selected. After case analysis, the conceptual map of the village school is drawn. The research questions are followings: 1)What is the conceptual framework of the village school? 2) What are the core elements to run village school? 3) What is the concept map of the village school like? The results of research are followings: Firstly, the village school concept can be composed of 4 aspects – subjects, spaces, purposes, activities. The villagers are the very subjects that build a life long learning system. In the aspect of subjects, a village school system helps villagers to be grown into subjects. In the aspect of space, village schools work as ‘a field of life’ beyond space. They function as a platform to extend the social relationship. In the aspect of purpose, village schools lay the foundation of a kind of village community; life long learning is the medium between them. In the aspect of activity, village schools create various activities through interaction between subjects. Secondly, the core elements of village school are learning, making relationship, and participating. These elements are not working separately. They are working as a team to interact each other. Thirdly, village schools give a chance to find themselves and improve the quality of personal life through learning in the first stage. They also give a chance to enlarge the life of villagers through making relationship. By participating in village activities, villagers extend their experience life of village from personal aspect to social aspect. Villagers are empowered to experience solving problems when they participate in running many educational programs and village projects. Lastly it’s found out that village schools play the pivot role in building village community.
