A traditional bomun (treasure motif) pattern has the meaning of ‘good omen’ as well as aesthetic beauty. Based on the meaning of this good omen, hair jewelry and accessories were developed using traditional patterns that can be applied to hairstyles at various events such as weddings and hair shows. Then, the designs that could be made available in hair salons were developed. In this study, a total 17 different bomuns including Japbo Bomun, Buddhist Bomun, and Taoist Bomun were used to develop fascinating hair jewelry and accessories. First, Japbo patterns include Ruyi, Bounmun, Bo, Wajam, Jeon, and Manja pattern. In Buddhist Bomun and Taoist Bomun, there are lotus and Seonja, patterns, respectively. In this study, hair jewelry and accessories were developed based on the symbolism of traditional bomun patterns. In terms of detail design, ‘S’ wave and ‘C’ curl were created using eco-friendly glue ‘polyvinyl acetate emulsion,’ Woodlok adhesive, alcohol, pearls, beads, and pins. With a hardening time of about two hours, a design that goes with the pattern was developed using beads and pearls. This study attempted to develop traditional bomun-based hair jewelry and accessories using elegant oriental lines. Using the traditional bomun-based hair jewelry and accessories, this study aimed to develop creative hairstyles. In addition, there was an attempt to use common jewelry and accessories in the creation of ‘good omen’-themed hairstyles. After all, this study targeted the development of diverse creative hairstyles and to make hair jewelry and accessories that can meet hairdressers’ needs.
