In the rapidly changing paradigms of modern society, brand-new designs are recreated through the convergence of science and art, regardless of genres. In the beauty industry as well, studies on innovative hair styles with a scientific concept are needed. In this study, this kind of new paradigm is called ‘Fractal Hair Design.’ Fractals are never-ending patterns that are self-similar across different scales. This study attempted to analyze creative hair designs based on the formative principles of fractals such as self-similarity, irregularity, overlapping, distortion and scaling. Using this kind of fractal formative principle, unique studies have also been visualized in a diverse manner in other fields of study. The study results found the following: First, a possibility of personalized and new emergence was reinterpreted using the fractal formative principles which follow regularity among disorder in nature. Second, in terms of analysis of the formative beauty of fractal hair designs, changes in new hair designs were confirmed with diverse changes and repetitive combinations caused by fractals in nature. Third, new fractal hair designs can be searched through reconfiguration after observing regularity in nature and explaining the formative principles of fractals. It is expected that if further studies are reconfigured in fractal hair design with the unique visual and artistic aspect of fractal formative principles, they could be used for artistic hair design and academic studies.
