사회적 관계망 기능이 노인의 자살생각에 미치는 영향과 우울의 매개효과 연구

The influence of social network and depression on suicide ideation of the elderly

본 연구는 사회적 관계망의 긍정적 기능과 부정적 기능의 직ㆍ간접효과와 우울의 매개효과를 검증하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이러한 목적을 달성하기 위하여 전라북도에 소재한 노인시설을 이용하는 65세 이상 노인 298명을 대상으로 1:1면접방식을 통해 자료를 수집하였다. 분석은 구조방정식모형을 사용하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 사회적 관계망의 긍정적 기능은 노인의 자살생각을 감소시키는 것으로 나타난 반면 사회적 관계망의 부정적 기능과 우울은 노인의 자살생각을 증가시키는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 우울이 사회적 관계망의 긍정적 기능과 자살생각 사이에서는 관계를 부분적으로 매개하고 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 사회적 관계망의 부정적 기능과 자살생각 사이에서는 완전매개를 하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과를 통해 이론적, 실천적, 정책적 함의 및 향후 연구 방향에 대해 제언하였다.

The purpose of this study examines not only the direct effects of the social network including positive and the negative function on the suicide ideation, but also the indirect effects to verify if depression mediates the relation between social network and suicide ideation. To achieve this purpose, a survey was conducted, and this sample was based on 300 older people aged over 65 living in Jeollabuk-Do, who had been participating in senior centers or in home care centers. A sampling method was the quota sampling using face to face interview, and an analysis method was the structural equation modeling. The findings were as follows: First, the positive function of social network had direct and positive effects on the suicide ideation, while the negative function of social network and the depression had direct and negative impacts on. Second, the depression mediated partially the association between positive social network and suicide ideation. On the other hand, the depression mediated fully links between negative social network and suicide ideation. This study theoretically contributes to the existing literatures documenting the impact of social network on older people’ suicide ideation, as verifying mechanism of negative social network that have not been previously demonstrated in an empirical way. With these theoretical studies, practical, and policy implications and suggestions for future research.
