고전소설의 광대 수용양상과 문학적 의미

이 논문은 고전소설에 수용된 광대의 양상과 거기에 담긴 문학적 의미를 고찰한 것이다. 광대는 전통사회에서 전문적으로 연희를 담당하였던 특수층의 신분이다. 이러한 광대의 형상은 고전소설 작품에서도 적지않게 나타난다. 조선후기에 이르러 광대의 활동은 분화되고 확산되었다. 그리하여 다양한 계층의 광대가 활발하게 공연하였다. 이러한 모습은 고전소설 작품에도 그대로 수용되었다. 이런 점에서, 광대들이 공연하였던 다양한 형태의 연희는 고전소설 작품에 광대를 수용하게끔 작용한 주요한 원동력이라 할 수 있다. 고전소설에 광대가 활용되면서, 그 서사기법은 점차 강화되고 확장되었다. 그리고 광대형 인물이 주변인물의 새로운 유형으로 출현하게 되었다. 또한 조선후기의 연희풍속을 사실적 또는 과장적으로 반영하면서, 광대는 작품창작에 효과적인 문학적 장치로 정착되었다. 이와 같이 고전소설의 광대 수용은 소설사적으로도 중요한 문학적 의미를 지닌다 하겠다. 따라서 고전소설에 수용된 광대에 대한 연구는 앞으로 보다 본격적으로 이루어질 필요가 있다 보아진다.

This study examined the form and the literature meaning of Gwangdae accepted in the classical novels. Gwangdae is a particular status which takes charge of play professionally in traditional society. These Gwangdae could be seen in many classical novels. In the latter of Choseon, the activity of Gwangdae was divided and was spread. Therefore, various class of Gwangdae performed actively. This feature was accepted in the classical novels intactly. In this point, various form of play performed by Gwangdae can be seen as an important motivation that accepted Gwangdae in the classical novels. The application technique was gradually strengthened and extended by accepting Gwangdae in the classical novels. And Gwangdae character emerged as a new type of support characters. Also by reflecting the play custom of latter Choseon realistically and exaggeratedly, Gwangdae become established as an effective literature device in the creation of work. Likewise, the acceptance of Gwangdae in classical novels has special literature meaning in history of novel. Therefore, it is necessary that the study of Gwangdae accepted in the classical novels should be revitalized in future.
