This study tries to interpret Nabokov’s Transparent Things in terms of modern quantum mechanics. In earlier times, the classical physics was the foundation of entire disciplines. But recently among the most advanced physics, the principle of quantum mechanics is being applied to psychology, philosophy, art, language and literature, etc. Quantum mechanics treats the atomic particles under the atoms. The world of elementary particles is different from that of the classical physics. Unlike the particle, the electron is the smallest material that operates as energy, which shows the physical phenomenon different from the classical mechanics. Among the properties, the nature of elementary particles is the wave, which is uncertain in position, and its energy value has discontinuity. The spin works as conflicting and entanglement’s condition in energy levels. Transparent Things looks at these as similar properties. This article applies the properties of particles and waves into story, characters, narrator, author, reading-writing, and languages, and analyzes them.
