A Study of Smith's Tools in the Proto-Three Kingdoms ~ Three Kingdoms Period

고대 사회의 단야구는 철기 제작의 鍛造加工을 목적으로 사용되는 道具複合體로서, 오늘날의 대장간에서 사용되는 것들과 형태와 사용법이 흡사하다. 본고의 목적은 고대 사회 철기 제작의 가장 중요한 도구라 할 수 있는 단야구의 종류와 형식, 편년을 구축 하는데 있다. 원삼국~삼국시대 유적에서 발견되는 단야구로는 망치, 집게, 줄, 철착, 모루 등이 있다. 이러한 단야구는 남한 각지의 유적에서 발견되며, 완주 상운리유적을 제외하고 모든 유적에서 1~3세트가 발견되고 있다. 남한지역에서 가장 빠른 시기의 단야구가 발견되는 유적은 창원 다호리유적으로서 그 시기는 기원 전후이다. 이후 마한·백제권역에서는 4~5세기대에 단야구가 집중적으로 부장되고, 가야·신라권역에서는 대부분 5~7세기의 유적에서 발견되고 있다. 또 한 유적에 따라 단야구 기종구성에서의 차이는 일부 확인되지만 각 기종별 형식상의 변화는 시공간상으로 거의 발견되지 않고 있다. 이러한 이유로는 단야구가 양식적 변화에 민감한 다른 철기에 비해 실용적 기능이 강조되었기 때문으로 판단된다.

Smith’s tools used in ancient society are complex of tool used for the purpose of forge welding and making iron ware. Ancient Smith’s tools are similar to those used in modern forges both form and method of use – for picking up and striking iron. Purpose of this thesis is to establish the sorts, forms and recording chronologically of Smith’s tools that are important tools for iron production in ancient times Smith’s tools sets - consisting of hammers, pliers, files, and chisels - were excavated from graves from the proto Three Kingdoms period~Three Kingdoms period. Usually 1 to 3 sets of Smith’s tools were found in most of Korea peninsula except of Sangwoon-ri case. Smith’s tools in Korea penisula where is found the earlist remains Changwon Danhori case. And then Smith’s tools in the Mahan-Baekjae area are distribited around 4~5 AD. But Smith’s tools in the Gaya-Shinra area are distributed around 5~7 AD. Also difference of forming Smith’s tools according to remains is identified, but change of those is hardly identified aspect of time and space. That’s why Smith’s tools have emphasized on the practical function as compared with other iron sensible to change of forms. Also, among remains associated with Smith’s tools, iron bars and ingots directly reflect iron production from that time period. However, time and space do not have meaning. There are several reasons Smith’s tools more emphasis has practical significance than the other iron forming changes.
