The Effects of Housing Characteristics of Elderly on Residential Satisfaction

Korea has already entered the aging society in 2000(elderly population is 7.2% of the total population). And in 2018 aged society with 14.3% of the total population, in 2026 is expected to enter the super-aged society by 20.8%. The purpose of this study is to examine the residential satisfaction of aged people. In this study, the residential satisfaction were analyzed using the Korean Labor & Income Panel Study(KLIPS). The empirical analyses of this study can be summarized in four. Firstly, the residential satisfaction of people living in Korea were analyzed by lowered as age increased. Secondly, employment of the elderly has been analyzed to have a negative effect on the residential satisfaction. However, household income were analyzed as a positive effect on the residential satisfaction. Thirdly, residential satisfaction of elderly living in Seoul were analyzed to be higher than in other regions. Finally, motives for residential moving were analyzed by a significant effect on residential satisfaction.
