The purpose of this paper is to explore the impact that the effects of succession process from the predecessor generation in family business gives to the management practice of successor. The major of literature research theme in the field of family business succession focused on the predecessor generation in particular(Handler, 1994), was the hesitation of succession to the next generation(Kets de Vries, 1985).the types of retirement styles of CEOs(Sonnenfeld, 1988; Lansberg, 1988), and the typology of predecessor roles during and after instatement of the successor (Cadieux, 2007). Accordingly the research for the effects of succession process in family business has been overlooked in the literature research. This paper uses a case study to examine Amidaike Daikoku corporation in Osaka prefecture, founded in 1805. This paper discusses the impact that guardianship of the predecessor generation, for example, protection by the predecessor generation, assignment isolated from the division of organization, ensuring autonomy associated with the acquisition of legitimacy as successor, gives to the management practice of successor.
