The purpose of this work aims to analyse the effect of northern sea route by global warming. For centuries, sea ice has prevented shipping vessels from taking the shortest route between Asia and North American or Europe. The Northern Sea Route is a sea-lane running north of Russia and it connects the Atlantic with the Pacific ocean. In the past the Northern Sea Route was difficult to pass through, but in recent years, thanks to the effects of global warming the potential of the route has emerged in terms of its use for commercial shipping. The Northern Sea Route significantly reduces sailing time, fuel costs and lowers the risk of encountering pirates. Arctic countries could receive an economic boost, especially Russia. Russia is well prepared to make the Northern Sea Route an attractive alternative to the Suez Canal. In the future the Northern Sea Route could become an important shipping lane that can rival the Suez-canal route. However, there are many issues that must be resolved ahead of the commercial utilization of the Northern Sea Route. The vast reserves of oil and natural gas in the Arctic led to territorial disputes between Arctic countries.
