The fisheries outlook project currently provides monthly outlook reports for 14 cultured fishery products: Laver, Sea mustard(Undaria pinnatifida), Olive Flounder, Black Rockfish, Red Seabream, Black porgy, Sea bass, Striped mullet, Abalone, Oyster, Sea mussel, Eel, Rainbow trout and Sea squirt. Furthermore, all the related information on the fish products are provided to fishermen and relevant organizations through well-known publications such as bi-weekly supply and demand reports as well as through mailing services. This study analyzes the contribution to policy measuring social welfare effects under cobweb expectation hypothesis and estimates annual average social welfare effects by individual items from the fisheries outlook project. The social welfare effects of the fisheries outlook project for selected 7 products were estimated to be worth of 12.65 billion korean won (annual average) in 2012. This results provide significant meanings as the fisheries outlook project has been statistically proven. Moreover, they give validity and appropriate prominence on the implementation of the fisheries outlook project from the perspective of the contribution for the rational decision making for fisherman.
