A Study on the Efficiency of Logistic Performance of the Caspian States

From the ancient time, Caspian sea located in the trade route of Silk Road has geographical importance in the aspect of transport and logistics. Moreover, in recent time, Caspian Sea coastal countries have expanded their economic scale and the trade between China and Europe also has been increased. Hence, due to Caspian sea ʼs strategic significance in transportation and trade, the study of logistic circumstance in Caspian Sea coastal countries is needed. Therefore in this paper, efficiency of logistics performance in 5 Caspian Sea coastal countries such as Russia, Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan has measured through DEA Model. The result shows that logistics efficiency of Turkmenistan efficiency is about 32.7% of the level of other 4 compared countries. The World Bank also has expressed that logistics efficiencies of Turkmenistan is the lowest level in its neighbouring countries. For this reason, Turkmenistan government should make an effort to enhance logistic efficiency.
