春陽橋와 月淨橋의 構造와 復原에 대한 檢討

The investigation of structures and restoration in Chunyang and Woljeong Bridges of Shilla Kingdom

춘양교와 월정교는 신라의 궁성인 월성 남편을 흐르는 남천에 위치한다. 춘양교의 구조는 배모양 교각 3개와 동·서 교대지로 이루어졌으며 길이 약 55m, 너비 약 15m 규모이다. 월정교는 교각 4개와 남·북교대지가 확인되었고 교량의 규모는 길이 약 61m, 너비 약 12m 이다. 이 두 교량지는 『三國史記』景德王條 “景德王 19년(A.D. 760)···2월, 궁중에 큰못을 파고 또 궁의 남쪽 蚊川上에 月淨橋와 春陽橋 두교량을 놓았다.”라는 기록 등, 같은 시기에 만들어졌음을 알 수 있는 문헌자료를 확인할 수가 있었다. 두 교량의 발굴조사 자료 및 복원안을 검토해본 결과 교각과 교대는 석재를 이용하고, 상판은 목재를 이용하였을 가능성이 상당히 높았다. 춘양교·월정교의 복원에 참고 가능한 교량 예로 우리나라의 것은 찾아보기 어려우나 중국에서는 비교 가능한 예를 찾을 수가 있었는데, 대표적인 교량은 廣西省의 程陽橋·浙江 泰順의 東洋橋·浙江 泰順의 永慶橋이다. 이상을 종합하여 두 교량을 복원해보면 배모양 교각을 3·4개 남천 하상을 가로질러 놓고, 교각 상부에 귀틀형부재를 두어 상판을 내민보 형식으로 결구하여 교각간 거리를 좁혀 구조적으로 상판 하중을 분리하였다. 상판은 목재를 이용하고 또한 목재를 보호하기 위해서 상판위에 누각과 같은 건물을 올렸을 것으로 추정된다, 이렇게 복원된 두 교량은 중국의 程陽橋 못지않은 아름다운 교량으로 복원이 가능할 것이다.

Chunyang and Wolljeong Bridges are located in the Namcheon(south stream) which flows south of Wallsung(the royal castle). Chunyang Bridge was constructed with three piers of ship shaped and east-west abutment. It is about 55m in length and 15m in width. In Wolljeong Bridge, four piers of ship-shaped and south-north abutment were found. It is about 61m in length and 12m in width. We can see that these two bridges were constructed simultaneously through the record of 『Samguksagi』(『三國史記』; history of the Three Kingdoms). It says that in Feburuary of 19th year of King Gyoungdeock(A.D. 760), in the palace a big pond was made and in the south of the palace, Chunyang and Wolljeong Bridges were constructed. As a result of previewing the materials of those two Bridges, there is some possibility of using stone in piers and abutment and wood in upper board. The example to be used for restoring of Chunyang and Wolljeong Bridges can be found in China not in Korea. That is Jeongyang Bridge(程陽橋) in Guangxi Zhuangzu, Dongyang Bridge(東洋橋) and Younggyeong Bridge(永慶橋) in Zhejiang. If we restore those bridges like this way, it becomes to have shape of three or four ship-shaped piers acrossing the Namcheon and a log framed materials put in the upper part of bridges, beam style made to stick out the upper board so narrow distance between those bridges were made and the load of upper board was possible to be separated. Maybe it is presumed that wood is used for upper board and to protect wood, on the board something like Nugak(樓閣 many storied building) would be constructed. Two bridges restored like this will be as beautiful as Jeongyang Bridge in China.
