고대 한반도 중부지역 초강정련 기술에 대한 고찰

A Study on the Parching and Refining Technology of the Central Region Korean Pninsula in Ancient era

초강정련 기술은 용선을 탈탄하여 강(鋼)을 만드는 획기적인 제작기술로서 탈탄제로 철광석을 이용하고, 조재제로 석회석을 이용하였다. 이러한 조업방식에 의해 초강계 철기에는 조직이 균일하고, 비금속개재물이 미세하게 분산되어 있으며, 비금속개재물에서 산화칼슘의 함량이 높게 확인된다. 초강계 철기로 확인된 오산 수청동유적 출토 환두대도와 포천 중리유적 출토 철촉의 분석 결과를 살펴봤을 때 초강계 철기와 초강정련 기술의 유입과정은 초강계 철기의 외부 유입 → 소재를 입수하여 초강계 철기제작 → 초강정련 기술을 이용한 초강 생산의 과정을 거치게 된다. 원삼국시대 이미 초강을 소재한 초강계 철기가 제작되었으며, 초강정련기술은 백제 한성기에 도입된 것으로 보인다. 한(漢)의 한야공철(限冶供鐵) 정책은 2세기 후반에 그 통제력을 상실한 것으로 생각된다.

Parching and refining were the innovative steel manufacturing technologies that produced steel by decarbonizing the molten iron using iron ore as the decarbonizing agent and limestone as the modifier. The parched ironware produced in this method manifests even texture, finely distributed non-metallic inclusions, and high calcium oxide content in the non-metallic inclusions. The analysis of the sword with ring pommel excavated in the remains of Sucheong-dong in Osan, and the iron arrowhead excavated in the remains of Jung-ri in Pocheon, both of which have been identified as the parched ironware, showed that the parched ironware and the parching and refining technologies were introduced to Korea in the following process: introduction of parched ironware from outside (Proto-Three Kingdoms Period) → import of materials and manufacture of parched ironware (Proto-Three Kingdoms Period) → production of parched steel using parching and refining technologies (Hanseong Phase of Baekje Dynasty Period). Dynasty Period). Parched ironware using parched steel had already been produced during the Proto-Three Kingdoms Period, it appears that the parching and refining technologies were introduced during the Hanseong Phase of Baekje Dynasty Period. Also, it appears that Han’s policy to limit iron production lost its control in the latter half of the 2nd century.
