탈북청소년의 학교생활 적응 경험 분석

An Analysis of the Experiences of School Life Adaptation of North Korean Adolescent Refugees

본 연구는 탈북청소년의 학교생활 적응 과정을 그들의 경험적 관점에서 이해하기 위한 목적으로 수행되었다. 이를 위해 근거이론을 사용하여 일반학교에 재학 중인 탈북청소년 14명을 대상으로 심층면담을 실시하였다. 연구결과는 ‘이질감으로 인한 정체성의 혼란’이 중심현상으로, ‘탈북으로 인한 생활환경의 변화’가 인과적 조건으로 작용하였다. 맥락적 조건은 ‘탈북인에 대한 부정적 인식과 태도’, ‘친구 관계에서의 위축감’, ‘약한 가족 응집력’으로 나타났다. 중재적 조건은 ‘한국어 습득 정도’, ‘주변의 도움’, ‘학습 지원’, ‘부모의 지지’로 나타났다. 작용/상호작용 전략은 ‘친구 관계를 위한 노력’, ‘학업에 대한 의지’, ‘내적 의지강화’로, 결과로는 ‘안정적인 학교생활’, ‘불안정적인 학교생활’로 나타났다. 이 연구는 탈북청소년의 학교생활 적응을 돕기 위한 효과적인 개입 방향과 탈북청소년을 상담하거나 지도하는 데 있어, 실질적인 지식과 정보를 제공해 주었다는데 그 의의가 있다.

The purpose of this study was to understand the experiences of school life adaptation of North Korean Adolescent refugees from their experiential perspectives. To achieve this aim, 14 students, who were at one time refugees and are now attending public schools, were interviewed using the grounded theory. The results were as follows. Firstly, the 'phenomenon' fell into ‘Confusion of Identity from Heterogeneity’. Secondly, the 'causal conditions' consisted of ‘change of living environment by escaping from North Korean’. Thirdly, the 'contextual conditions' consisted of ‘negative recognition and attitude for North Korean Refugee’, ‘frustration in friendships’, and ‘lack of family Cohesion’. Fourthly, the 'intervening conditions' consisted of ‘degree of acquiring Korean language’, ‘help from surroundings’, ‘support for learning’, and ‘support from Parents’. Fifthly, the 'actions/interactions' consisted of ‘efforts for friendship’, ‘willingness to improve learning’, and ‘enhancing internal strength'. Finally, the 'consequences' consisted of ‘stable school life', and 'unstable school life'. This study is significant in that it provided experiential knowledge and information for effective ways to help North Korean Adolescent refugees adapt to school life, and offered ways to consult and guide them.
