문화역사적 활동이론을 통한 교사의 학교 내 대안교실 운영 활동 분석

An Analysis of the Management Activity of Teachers for an Alternative Classroomin School by a Cultural Historical Activity Theory

본 논문은 학교 내 대안교실을 운영하는 교사의 활동을 학교맥락에서 분석하는 과정을 통해, 실제 현장의 교사가 경험하고 인식하는 어려움을 밝히고 이를 개선할 수 있는 방안을 탐색함으로써, 대안교실의 안정적 운영과 발전에 기여하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 담당교사의 운영 활동을 문화역사적 활동이론으로 분석하였고, 그 과정을 통해 담당교사들은 대안교실 운영을 개별교사가 알아서 해야 하는 개인적 수준으로 인식하는 학교문화에 고민과 갈등을 하고 그러한 모순들에 순응과 새로운 해법 찾기의 방식으로 대처하고 있다는 점과, 교사들의 노력에도 불구하고 대상 학생들은 아직까지 피동적인 객체로서 대안교실을 ‘시간 때우기’나 ‘수업 피하기’로 인식하고 있다는 점을 알 수 있었다. 이와 같은 연구결과들을 바탕으로 다음과 같은 시사점을 도출할 수 있었다. 첫째, 대안교실 운영의 주체인 교사의 동기부여에 대한 깊은 이해가 필요하고, 둘째, 대안교실이 운영되는 학교라는 장(場)이 가지는 사회적 맥락에 대한 고려가 중요하며, 셋째, 대안교실의 운영은 참여 학생 각각에 대한 총체적인 이해에 터해 이루어져야 한다는 점이다.

The purpose of this study was to contribute to stable management and development of alternative classroom by revealing the problems experienced and perceived by in-service teachers and determining the measure to overcome them through, in the context of school, analyzing the activities of teachers responsible for alternative classrooms in schools. For the purpose, this study analyzed the management activities of teachers from the perspective of cultural historical activity theory and found that the teachers have concern and trouble for the school culture that perceive the alternative classroom management as a personal activity of the teachers, that they have dealt those discrepancy through complying with the contradictions and seeking for new solutions and that the participating students still have passive perception, despite the efforts of teachers, that the alternative classroom is a mean for ‘killing time’ or ‘avoiding lecture attendance’. It was suggested, based on those findings, that it is urge to understand the motivating teachers as a subject of alternative classroom management; it is important to consider the social context of school, in which the alternative classroom is operated; and the management of alternative classroom should be based on the whole understanding of individual students.
