The Meaning of Changing Fate in the Folktale <A good grave where was gained by sex of husband and wife> according to Literary Therapeutics -A comparison with the Film <Controller> (The Adjustment Bureau)-

이 논문은 설화 <부부 동침으로 지킨 명당>에서 발복을 하는 이유와 의미를 문학치료학적 관점에 입각하여 밝혀보는 것을 목적으로 하고 있다. 그리고 이 목적을 달성하기 위해 영화 <컨트롤러>와 서사 비교를 시도하였다. 서사의 비교 결과 두 작품에 표면적으로 드러나는 텍스트 상의 차이가 있음에도 불구하고 두 작품 모두 사랑의 성취가 천상의 질서에 위배됨에도 불구하고 사랑의 감정에 충실한 결과 천상의 질서까지 재편하게 된다는 내용을 담고 있다는 점에서 공통점을 드러냈다. 다시 말해 이성과 충동의 길항 속에서 충동적 감정에 귀를 기울이고 그것에 충실한 결과, 한계로 다가왔던 운명을 새롭게 수정할 수 있게 되었다는 점이 공통적이라 할 수 있었다. 이런 맥락으로 <부부 동침으로 지킨 명당>을 이해할 때 갖는 문학치료학적 의미는 첫째, 적어도 이 작품의 서사에 공감할 수 있다면, 인간적 한계에 직면한 사람이 원초적인 방법을 선택한다는 것이 곧 인간다운 방법일 수 있고 문제를 해결할 수 있는 길이 될 수 있음을 인지하고 있다고 진단해볼 수 있을 것이다. 따라서 이러한 서사를 자기서사로 가지고 있다면 직면한 한계에 좌절하지 않고 그 한계를 만들게 한 법칙을 수정할 수도 있다는 가능성까지 내다볼 수 있는 역량을 확보하였다고 할 수 있을 것이다. 둘째, 이 설화가 영화 <컨트롤러>와 유사한 자장 안에 있다는 것은, <부부 동침으로 지킨 명당>이 하나의 원형으로 존재하면서 다양한 형태로 변개되고 창작의 추동력이 될 뿐 아니라 사람의 자기서사에도 영향을 미쳐 많은 사람들이 기억하고 구연하게 할 뿐만 아니라 다양한 형태의 텍스트로 변개 및 수정될 수 있는 가능성도 전망할 수 있다고 설명해볼 수 있을 것이다.

This paper aims to reveal the reason for and significance behind the main character's fate changing for the better in <A good grave where was gained by sex of husband and wife> based on the viewpoint of literary therapeutics. To this end, I compared the epic of this story with the epic of the film <Controller> from the point of view of literary therapeutics. The results of this comparison revealed that even though there are several differences in the texts, both works have important elements in common. First, the love of main characters was against the raw of heaven. Second, their love or sexual impulses could not be controlled by the raw of heaven. Third, they believed their love to be just as precious as their fate. Fourth, the sincerity of the main characters change the raw of heaven. In short, they can change their fate by focusing on and their desire and considering it to be precious. By comparing the two works, I was able to find the meaning of <A good grave where was gained by sex of husband and wife>. The results of analysis are as follows. If there are people who read and empathize with this story, it can be assumed that they have the ability to change their fate and overcome all difficulty. In other words, they tend to not be limited by the boundaries of fate. Based on the common elements between the two works from the point of view of literary therapeutics, we can consider <A good grave where was gained by sex of husband and wife> to be an archetype among many works that depict a rivalry between love/desire and fate/raw. Therefore this story can not only attribute motive to create new works but also influence people.
