本研究は、韓日兩國に受容された本生譚の一つである睒(施无)孝子說話の韓日比較硏究を試みたものである。主たる硏究對象は漢譯佛典と韓日兩国の佛伝(佛敎)説話集である『釈迦如来十地修行記』と『三寶繪』である。本硏究の目的は主として本說話の韓日兩國における受容と變容上の特色の分析とその原因の解明にある。 分析してみた結果、睒孝子說話は韓日両国においてともに『佛說菩薩睒子經』の影響が大きかったことが指摘できた。ただし、『釈迦如来十地行錄』附錄の<睒孝子經>の場合は『佛說菩薩睒子經』には直接はつながらず、『經律異相』を通しての受容であった。韓国では睒孝子說話が帝釋を弥勒の化身と見る帝釋信仰と深く關聯しているのが特徴だった。 一方、日本の『三寶繪』ではこの説話が上卷の最終を飾る最高位菩薩として位置づけられているのが大きな特徴で、これは菩薩が実践すべき最高の徳目の一つに孝養を意識した結果と見ることができるが、さらに、この話の仏国土的なハッピーエンドの要素もまた考慮されたものかと考えられる。 同じ傾向が韓国の『釈迦如来十地修行記』の一つの異本である『逐機別談』第8地にもみられる。ここでは既存の‘善惠仙人’の代わりに‘須闡提太子’を収めているが、これもまた既存の十地本生菩薩の展開に反発し、菩薩の徳目として孝養の本生菩薩を入れようとする努力の産物と思われる。
This article presents a comparative study of “Śyāma-jātaka” in Korea and Japan, with main focus put on Chinese Buddhist scriptures, “Sŏkkayŏraesipchisuhaeng-gi” of Korea, and “Sambo-e” of Japan. The purpose of this study is to investigate the causes and characteristics of the Śyāma-jātaka tales of Korea and Japan. Our central finding is that the “Śyāma-jātaka” stories could see all of the commonly attested negative impacts of “Bulseolbosatu-somezakyong” in Korea and Japan. In the case of “Śyāma-jātaka,” an appendix of “Sŏkkayŏrae-sipji-haengrok,” however, it was accommodated through “Gyeongryuthel-isang” without direct contact to “Bulseolbosatu-somezakyong.” In Korea, the Śyāma-jātaka tales are characterized as being associated with the deep faith to see the descaling Sakra Devānām Indra as an incarnation of Miroku. On the other hand, the major characteristic of “Sambo-e” is that the story has been positioned as the last Jataka tale. This can be regarded as the result of the attempt to conduct the Bodhisattva practice.
