This empirical study focuses on the effects between export volume and import volume relativeto the South Korea–Chile Free Trade Agreement. We examine the interdependence ofKorea’s export volume and import volume relative to the South Korea–Chile Free TradeAgreement in Korea using 102 monthly data or observation from January 2000 to June 2008.We employ the impulse response function based on the VAR model as well as variancedecomposition after unit root tests and the cointegration test were performed. This research showed the following major results. First, from basic statistical analysis, bothexport volume and import volume relative to the South Korea–Chile Free Trade Agreementhave unit roots. In addition, there is at least one cointegration among them. Lastly, we findthat export volume and import volume relative to the South Korea–Chile Free TradeAgreement does not Granger-cause export volume.
