Types of Czech Infinitive Phrases and Distribution of Nominative-Controlled PRO

정형동사와는 달리 부정사는 [AgrNum]와 [AgrPers] 자질이 결여되어 있어 자신의 행동주 의미역에 [+NOM]의 격자질을 부여할 수가 없다. 그러나 의미역 기준(Theta criterion)에 따라, 부정사 역시 의미적 선택(s-selection)과 범주적 선택(c-selection)을 통해 음성적으로 실현되지 않는 자신의 내현주어 소위 공범주(empty category) PRO를 통사적으로 실현해야 한다. 상위절의 정형동사의 주격 주어는 실제론 주어인상이라는 재구성을 통해 부정사 행동주의 실현인 것이며 공범주 PRO를 통제하는 독립적인 성분이다. 이때 PRO는 소위 주어통제에 따른 부정사의 행동주의 실현이다. 이 연구는 지배-결속이론(Government and Binding Theory)에 근거하여, 체코어에 나타나는 다양한 부정사구의 유형을 분석하고 부정사구문의 행동주의 의미역이 주격(NOM) 형태로 실현되는 경우인, 정형절의 주어 통제를 받는 PROSUBJ 공범주 설정근거에 대해 논의를 제한하고자 한다.

Unlike finite verbs, the infinitives lack grammatical features of [AgrNum] and [AgrPers], and do not have abilities to assign “Case” feature of [+NOM] to their subjects. According to the Theta Criterion, however, infinitives need to structurally realize their own covert subjects, so-called PRO (Empty Category), that are not realized formally or phonetically through semantic and categorical selection. The nominative subject in a matrix clause is actually an agent, theta role assigned by the infinitive phrase, realized through so-called “Raising” to subject position. Moreover, it is an independent constituent that controls the PRO. This type of PRO is a realization of semantic agent of infinitives by the Subject-control. Based on Government and Binding Theory, this thesis not only analyzes the various types of Czech infinitive phrases with different type of PRO, but also discusses the presence of PRO subjectcontrolled by the finite matrix clause in Czech.
