한국의 동유럽학: 평가와 전망

East European Studies in South Korea: Review and Prospect

본 논문은 한국내 동유럽학의 태동과 발전과정을 설명하고 있다. 본 연구에 따르면, 국내 동유럽학의 역사는 독일의 베를린장벽과 냉전체제가 붕괴되는 1989년을 전후하여 크게 4개의 시기로 나누어 분석할 수 있다고 본다: (1) 냉전 체제시기 동유럽연구의 태동: 1989년 이전, (2) 동유럽학의 토대구축과 양적 성장기: 1989년부터 1990년대, (3) 새로운 방향의 탐색 및 도약기: 2000년대, (4)질적 성장을 위한 준비기: 2010년대. 본론에서는 시기별로 동유럽학의 특성과 과제, 한계 등에 대해 살펴보고 있다. 상대적으로 짧은 시기에도 불구하고 국내의 동유럽 연구는 괄목할 만한 양적 성장을 이루었으며, 한국과 동유럽국가들과 의 학문적, 문화적 관계발전에 이바지 한 것이 사실이다. 본 논문은 국내 동유럽학이 이루어낸 성과와 문제점들을 지적하고 앞으로 이 분야의 발전을 위해 과제를 제시하고 있다.

This study attempts to explore the origin and development process of East European Studies which have been conducted in South Korea. The history of East European Studies in Korea is examined in the following 4 time periods, starting from 1989 when the Berlin Wall came down: (1) The birth of East European Studies in South Korea: Before 1989, (2) Establishing the foundation of East European Studies in Korea: From 1989 through 1990s, (3) Searching for new direction and leaping for the next level: during 2000s, (4) Preparation period for the qualitative growth: during 2010s. This study attempts to investigate any special features of the East European Study of South Korea in each time period, examining its achievements, tasks and limits. Inspite of its relatively short history, the East European Study in South Korea made remarkable advances while Korean researchers and research/educational institutes contributed to the development of mutual relationship between Korea and East Europe. This study introduces the achievement of East European Studies in Korea and discusses about the tasks for futher development of East European Studies in Korea.
