천상열차분야지도 동방7수의 복원

An Identification of Eastern Stars in the Korean Star Chart Carved a stone in the 14th Century

신라 초기의 알영부인설화, 고구려의 유화부인설화, 통일신라의 거타지설화, 고려왕실의 작제건설화와 원창왕후설화는 모두 하늘의 별자리와 관련된 설화로 보인다. 그러므로 우리나라 천문도의 별자리는 한국인의 심성세계를 이해하는 중요한 실마리가 된다. 이번의 천상열차분야지도(天象列次分野之圖) 동방7수(東方七宿)의 동정(同定) 작업도 고려 후기 이규보(李奎報)의 ｢동명왕편(東明王篇)｣에서 주몽의 어머니 유화부인(柳花夫人)을 물속에서 건져 올린 어사(漁師) 강력부추(强力扶鄒)의 설화를 이해하기 위한 기초 작업이다.한국의 별자리에 대한 정보는 1395년(태조 4)에 돌에 새긴 천상열차분야지도에서 얻을 수 있다. 그 석각 천문도에 새겨진 1,467개의 별들에 대한 적경과 적위는 남아 있지 않지만, 그것이 어떤 별인지는 별자리의 모양, 크기, 위치, 방향 등으로 알아낼 수 있다. 이번에 동정하려는 별들은 동방7수 소속 48개 별자리 186개 별이다. 불명확한 부분이 없지 않으나 186개의 별을 모두 찾았다. 동정 결과는 앞으로도 꾸준히 검증과 수정 작업을 지속하여 정확도를 높일 것이다.

In old times, the constellations had high significance for Korean people. For example, they believed that kings were born from the spirit of Polestar. So the understanding of constellations is needed to comprehend their mentality. Korean old constellations are derived from that of China but they are not thoroughly same with it. The information of Korean constellations can be get from the star chart named Cheonsang-yeolcha-bunya-jido which was carved on stone in 1395. There are 1,467 stars in it. Though the right ascensions and declinations of the stars were not recorded, the name of the stars in constellations can be found to check the shapes, sizes, locations and directions of the constellations. As a result I could find 186 stars of 48 constellations in the eastern 7 constellations boundaries from the star chart.
