In Central Asian countries, the process of transition has been developed since the breaking of Soviet Union. In the developing process, NGOs were also established and play an active role in reforming Central Asian communities. From the beginning, NGOs assisted in, and promoted the establishment of NGOs in Central Asia. NGOs in Central Asian countries have faced different environments in organizing and conducting their activities. Since the end of 1990s, in Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, NGO activities decreased due to domestic political situations. Kyrgyzstani and Kazakhstani NGOs had wide boundaries for effective working processes until 2005, but environments for NGO activities in these two countries deteriorated since then.
