남자예비보육교사의 보육실습 경험에 대한 탐색

Exploring Child Care and Teaching Practice Experience of Male Pre-service Child Care Teachers

본 연구의 목적은 남자예비보육교사들의 보육실습의 경험을 탐색해 보는 것이다. 이를 위해 수도권에 위치한 A보육교사양성과정의 남자예비보육교사 3명을 대상으로 보육실습 전․후 면담을 실시하고 보육실습 동안 작성한 반성적 일지를 분석하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 남자예비보육교사들은 보육실습을 통해 남자교사로서의 강점을 발견하며 교사로서의 자아상과 역할을 찾아가고 있었다. 둘째, 보육실습동안 유아와의 만남을 통하여 행복과 갈등을 경험하면서 역량 있는 교사가 되기 위해 노력하였다. 셋째, 남자예비보육교사들은 교사로서 스스로의 부족함을 발견하여 이를 채우기 위한 노력이 필요함을 알게 되었다. 넷째, 남자예비보육교사들은 미래의 남자보육교사들에게 희망찬 남자교사로서의 발전과 성장을 조언하였다. 본 연구는 남자예비보육교사들의 보육실습 경험을 바탕으로 보육교사교육의 방향 및 보육현장에서 남자교사의 역할을 조망하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

The purpose of this study is to explore the teaching practice of male pre-service child care teachers. This study targets at three male pre-service child care teachers attending A child care teacher training course in Seoul who involved in-depth interviews before and after the teaching practice and then analyzes their reflective journals written during the teaching practice. The results are shown as follows. First, male pre-service child care teachers established their self-images and roles as teachers while finding their strengths as male teachers. Second, male pre-service child care teachers tried their best to be a competent teacher, experiencing happiness and conflicts by meeting children during the teaching practice. Third, male pre-service child care teachers found their own weakness as a teacher, and this leads them to feel the need of continuous self-improvement and their efforts to overcome it. Forth, current male pre-service child care teachers advised future male pre-service child care teachers on their development and growth as promising male teachers. Through this study, it is expected to reflect on the importance of male teachers’ roles in child care field as well as the path of male child care teachers based on the experience from the practicum of male pre-service child care teachers.
