The criteria that can argue the originality of the work of fiction is two ways. First, when the work of fiction that has been created by the world view of the writer as an exceptional individuals has preoccupied the correct historical directionality, the work has secured the originality. Second, when the work has had its unique plot, the work has secured the originality. The originality of plot is determined by the use for motif. Motifs are the elements that form the sujet and are the smallest unit that can not be decomposed into smaller units. There are two kinds of motif. First, 'motifs libres' can be omitted without breaking the continuity of narrative. On the other hand, 'motifs associes' can transform the causal relationship if it is omitted. Second, 'motifs dynamiques' convey a change in circumstances. On the other hand, 'motifs statiques' don't change the situation. The originality of plot is determined by the use for 'motifs libres' and 'motifs statiques'. Therefore, when we analyze the work of fiction from the viewpoint of the plot, it is important to grasp motifs that bestow originality in the work.
