Objective: The aim of the current study was to investigate the effect of the intervention related to pelvic movements on walking ability in people with chronic post stroke hemiparesis. Method: Three subjects with chronic post stroke hemiparesis participated in this study. Primary outcome measures were the clinical assessment scale, gait parameters, and pelvic tilting during walking. The 3-week intervention phase consisted of pelvic movement in various position: sidelying, sitting, one leg standing position. In this position the subject was asked to move their pelvis into anterior, posterior, lateral tilting and rotation. The subjects underwent 15 training sessions, 5 days a week for 3 weeks. Each training session lasted 30 min. Result: All subjects had improved clinical assessment scale. Subject 1 had improved cadence, Subject 2 had also slightly improved. Subject 3 had improved speed of walking. For the degree of lateral tilt and rotation of pelvis, all of subject was closed to normal data. Conclusion: The results suggest that pelvic movement training may be helpful to chronic stroke patients with walking disability. Aditional investigation is needed to examine the effects of this pelvic movement intervention in this population.
