The Effect of University Hospital-Based Integrated Education on the Work Performance of Employees in Public Health

Objective: The purpose of this study was to propose new solutions for the reinforcement of work performance of the recently graduated employees in public health by analyzing the work performance of the graduates who did not take integrated education course in public health by comparing them with those who took integrated education course in public health. Method: A survey was conducted from March 2014 to April 2014 on 172 graduates who took integrated education course in public health based on the hospital clinical rotation and 153 graduates who did not take integrated education course in public health at the nursing school and public health school of D university located in Buk-gu, Daegu city. Results: The work performance of the graduates who did not take integrated education course in public health as opposed to those who took integrated education course in public health showed significant differences(p<.05) . The work performance based on the general features, professionalism and clinical application showed significant differences in the age and the number of years of employment(p<.05). Conclusion: Therefore, the positive improvement of work performance through integrated education in public health not only enhance work satisfaction, but also build a patient-oriented integrated medical thinking, and develop healthcare professionals. At this point where the recognition and evaluation of integrated education in public health are changing, a systematic study is needed on the role of integrated education in public health..
