Eisner의 예술교육론에 기반한 실천가의 전문성 탐구

A Study on Expertise of the Practitioner based on Art Education Theory of Eliot W. Eisner

본 연구는 우리에게 널리 알려진 아이스너의 예술교육론의 확장적 연구이다. 아이스너의 예술교육론은 예술교육의 본질과 인간의 앎의 방식으로서 예술을 한 단계 높인 이론으로 평가받고 있다. 그러나 그의 이론은 학문적 범위와 관점의 독특성, 평범하지 않은 그의 사상으로 인해 쉽게 이해되지 않는 부분들이 존재한다. 따라서 아이스너의 예술교육론 저변에 깔려있는 의미를 파악하기 위해 미술가로서 미술교사로서 그가 얻은 통찰에 주목할 필요가 있다. 다시 말해 본 연구는 미술가의 실천적 입장에서 전문성을 논의하고 그의 예술교육론이 시사하는 실천 전문성의 의미와 성격을 규명하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 첫째 미술교육에서 실천가의 전문성이란 어떻게 재규정 될 수 있는지, 둘째 아이스너의 예술교육론에서 실천 전문성이 무엇을 의미하는지, 셋째 예술분야의 전문성은 다른 분야에서의 전문성과 어떻게 다른지, 넷째 그러한 전문성을 어떻게 개발하고 전수가 가능한지에 대한 교육적 이슈나 문제들에 대하여 종합적으로 논의하였다. 결론적으로 이 연구는 아이스너의 예술교육론이 시사하는 미술의 인지적 성격에서 미술교사의 전문성을 재구성하고, 미술가의 창작활동에 주목하여 미술교육에서 요구되는 교사의 실천 전문성을 감식안과 비평의 기술로 이해하였다는데 의의가 있다.

This is a further study of art education theory of E.W. Eisner who is well known to us. His theory is regarded as the concept which had the essence of art education and art, which is a human way of knowing, be raised to higher stage. In his theory, however, there are some parts, which are not easy for us to understand, due to the unique academic scopes and perspectives and his unordinary ideas. Therefore, in order to understand the meaning underlying art education theory of Eisner, we need to pay attention to the insights he gained as an artist and an art teacher. In other words, this study aims to discuss the expertise in terms of the practical view of artists and to establish the meanings and traits of the practical expertise suggested by his art education theory. In accordance with the aim, I comprehensively argue the educational issues and problems; (1) the way the expertise of the practitioner is re-established in art education, (2) what practice expertise means in art education theory of Eisner, (3) how expertise of art field is different from that of other fields, and (4) how the expertise is possible to develop and initiate. In conclusion, this study has meaning in that it reconstructed art teacher’s expertise as cognitive character of art shown by Eisner’s art education theory and it understood art teacher’s practical expertise needed in art education as technique of connoisseurship and criticism by concentrating on artist’s creative activity.
