A Study on the Design and Operational Improvement of Ethics Education & Training Program for Police in South Korea

This paper seeks to present the results of a critical analysis of major issues surrounding the ongoing debate on reform of police ethics education and training program in South Korea. After a brief review of the theory of police ethics education and training current practice, a set of important issues was reviewed and analyzed through a comparative perspective. The purpose of this study is to explore the enhancing of police ethics education and training program in Korea. Especially, the directions for reform were made for improving police ethics education and training. Specific policy recommendations were suggested design and operational improvement of police ethics education and training program, modify police's ethics training curriculums, and introduce new education methods that case study, simulation, action learning techniques. The study will help identify detailed approaches about how to enhance police ethics training program in South Korea.
