Female Civil Servant and Anti-corruption in Government

Female participation in the government agencies has been increasing in Korea since 1990s. In fact, the number of females working in a couple of agencies is even higher than that of males, and this trend will continue. This study analyzes the effect of this trend on the level of corruption in the government organizations, by examining the following research question. "Does the increase in female participation in the government organizations reduce or increase the level of corruption in the sector?" This empirical study aims at achieving three goals. First, to develop a new reason that supports female participation in the labor market. Second, to diversify the study of corruption in Korea, and finally, to investigate the possibility of new variables that influence corruption in government agencies.
