A Study on the Limitations and Proactive Measures of Police Audit and Inspection System in Korea

This paper seeks to present the results of a critical analysis of major issues surrounding the ongoing debate on reform of police audit and inspection system in South Korea. After a brief review of the theory of police audit and inspection and current practice, a set of important issues was reviewed and analyzed through a comparative perspective. The purpose of this study is to explore the enhancing of police audit and inspection system in Korea. Especially, the directions for reform were made for improving police audit and inspection. Specific policy recommendations were suggested performance audit, internal audit, system audit, risk-management audit and control self-assessment. The study will help identify detailed approaches about how to enhance police audit and inspection system in South Korea.
