경찰 진압 방패 개발과 관련하여 경찰 방패가 시위대와 직접 부딪히는 경계가 됨에도 불구하고 현재까지 개발된 방패는 여러 가지 문제점들로 인해 효과적이며 평화적인 진압에 큰 어려움을 가져다 준 것이 사실이다. 따라서 경찰이 효과적인 진압임무와 질서유지 임무를 효율적으로 수행하기 위해서는 경찰 진압 장비, 특히 방패 디자인에 있어 많은 부분의 개선이 필요하다고 할 수 있다. 이에 디자인 부분 해답 방법론을 이용해 도출된 컨셉 디자인 결과물을 바탕으로 테스트 모델 제작과 현장 설문조사를 통해 경찰 방패 상세디자인 연구를 위한 두 가지 타입의 디자인 안이 결정/제시 되었다. 두 가지 디자인 경찰 방패를 이용해 상세 디자인 평가를 조사 분석 하여 이를 통해 경찰 방패 최종 PROTO TYPE 모델 제작, 이후 경찰 방패 양산을 위한 디자인 규격을 정해 신형 경찰 방패의 상용화가 가능 할 것 이다.
